Obituary

Wayne F. Stromberg, 61, of Springfield, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, March 1, 2022. Born in Ludlow on October 2, 1960, he was the son of Robert Stromberg Sr. and the late Ruth (Beiser) Stromberg.  Wayne was a graduate of the former Springfield Technical High School and TCI.  He furthered his education in CAD at STCC.  He worked as head laser operator at Millennium Die Group and later as water-jet operator/programmer at W. B. Hill Co. for many years.  Wayne was a talented wood worker gifting many beautiful creations to family, friends and community organizations. He also volunteered at Camp “WEE KAN TU”, a week long summer camp for children with Epilepsy.  He was a huge fan of the Red Sox and Pats, even if they were having a bad season. Most of all he loved spending time with his family, making them laugh with his silly stories and crazy nicknames for things.  Laughter was how he coped with all of life’s challenges.  Even in his final days he was finding ways to make his nurses and loved ones laugh. Wayne was truly a kind, brave and amazing man who will be missed dearly by so many.  He was a member of St. Catherine of Sienna Parish in Springfield.

In addition to his father, Wayne is survived by his beloved wife of 40 years Irene (Joao) Stromberg of Springfield; his sons Peter Stromberg (Melinda Harvey) of Palmer; Michael Stromberg (Rhina Searles) of Springfield; his brother Robert Stromberg Jr. (Joanne Shea) of Springfield and his special aunt Susie Rosa of Holyoke.  He also leaves his 4 grandchildren Leslie, Kaleb, Kigan and Jasper.  Sadly, he was predeceased by his daughter Leslie Ann Stromberg in 1990.
