Obituary

Victoria passed away peacefully on Monday, March 20, 2023 surrounded by her loving family at the age of 95, 5 days short of her 96th birthday. She was born in Wilbraham, MA and lived all her life in Ludlow, MA.  Vikki was a lifelong communicant of Christ the King Church in Ludlow with a special devotion to the Blessed Mother. She was dedicated to supporting seminarians.

As a young woman, Vikki worked at Ludlow Manufacturing, Mass Mutual, and Chapman Valve, which she represented as “Miss Chapman Valve” in a Western Mass beauty contest. Vikki belonged to many religious sodalities and various civic organizations. She enjoyed traveling with family and watching and supporting the daily mass and rosary. She went on pilgrimages to a variety of shrines in Canada and the U.S., and also enjoyed ceramics, trips to the casino, fundraising for her church, and shopping. She especially enjoyed hearing about her great-niece Ashley’s travel adventures.

She will be dearly missed by her nieces, Beverly Adamick, Evelyn Goss, and Nancy Bigda Parent;  nephew, William J. Bigda, and Nancy’s husband, Thomas Parent, whom she lovingly referred to as “my son.”

In addition to her nieces and nephews, Vikki is survived by great-nieces Jennifer Woronick, Kathy Pelchat, and Ashley Parent; great-nephews Donald Tatro, Jr., Anthony Bigda, and William Bigda, Jr., and their families.  Vikki was predeceased by her husband, Rudolph S. Gardzienski; her parents, Anthony and Apolonia Bigda; three brothers, Joseph, John and Walter; and sister-in-law, Mary Alyce Bigda.

Special thanks to dearly loved friends Father Raymond Soltys, William Rae, Christopher and Betty Blais, as well as the staff of Keystone Commons, who became a loving family.

In her memory, a kind thought and Hail Mary will be appreciated.

“When evening creeps upon me I’ll never fear to be alone: Once again, Oh, Blessed Mother, take my hand and lead me home.”

Visiting hours for Vikki will be Wednesday, April 5, 2023 from 10:00-11:30 AM at the Kapinos-Mazur Funeral Home, 64 Sewall St., Ludlow, MA, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 12:00 Noon in Christ the King Church.  Burial will be in St. Aloysius Cemetery.

Vicki, you are forever in my heart. You said after you passed you wanted to come back as a 3A (3rd floor activity room) girl. We promise to always save a seat for you. Your humor warmed our hearts. You will truly be missed. My condolences to the family.

My heartfelt sympathy goes out to Vikki's loving family and many friends of Christ the King parish. Vikki was a truly loving and faithful woman, devoted to her husband who had been deceased for many years. I recall Vikki lit candles in his honor every week. I was so touched by her goodness and loving heart. She was the sweetest and kindest woman. Loving and devoted a great friend. She appreciated the efforts of the altars boys at our parish and wouldn't hesitate to tell them, and often took the time to tell them after Mass what a great job they did and how special they were. She would often slip a couple dollars in their hands to get an ice cream or candy. I cannot forgot the times we shared holy hours together. She was a beautiful prayer partner for many years. All of heaven is rejoicing to receive her beautiful soul. Thank you for the many fond memories, Vikki! In my heart and in my prayers you shall remain! Eternal Rest grant unto Vikki, Oh Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon her. Through the mercy of God, may her soul and all the souls of the faithful departed rest in peace. Amen.
