Thomas E. Dufresne, 93, of Ludlow, passed away Sunday, May 12, 2019. Son of the late Earl and Beatrice (Beauchemin) Dufresne, he was born in Burlington, VT on June 6, 1925. Tom proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Navy’s Armed Guard Unit during World War II, with service in both the European and Pacific Theaters. He was awarded the Combat Action Medal, World War II Victory Medal, Philippine Liberation Ribbon, the European, African, Middle Eastern and Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medals. Tom retired from the Ludlow Post Office after 33 years of service. He was a member of St. Elizabeth’s Parish and their league of the Sacred Heart. He was active in the Knights of Columbus, American Legion, VFW, DAV, Veteran’s of Foreign Wars, WWII Navy Memorial and Commander of the U.S. Navy Armed Guard Unit of Western, MA.
Tom is survived by his son Thomas Dufresne Jr. and his wife Anna of Hampden, his daughter Renee Dufresne of Ludlow, his son-in-law Michael Shea of FL; his sisters Catherine Bergeron and Priscilla DeVoid both of Burlington, VT; in-laws Frederick and Roberta Lafayette of Ludlow; Patricia and Richard Michalik of Enfield and many nieces and nephews. Sadly he was predeceased by his wife Priscilla and daughter Marie Daigle-Shea.
Funeral services for Tom will be Friday, May 17, 2019 at 8:45 AM at the Kapinos-Mazur Funeral Home, 64 Sewall St., Ludlow, MA followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in St. Elizabeth’s Parish. Rites of Committal with Military Honors will follow in St. Aloysius Cemetery, Berkshire Ave., Springfield, MA. Visiting hours at the funeral home are Thursday, May 16, 2019 from 4:00-7:00 PM.
