Thelma T. (Couture) LeBlond, 94, of Wilbraham, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 26, 2024. Daughter of the late Oscar and Clarabelle (Brockney) Couture, she was born in Indian Orchard on July 11, 1929. Thelma was a graduate of The High School of Commerce and worked as an office manager for Prudential Insurance. She met her late husband Richard in grammar school and they settled in Wilbraham in 1956 to raise their family. As a wife and mother, Thelma was a dedicated homemaker and avid reader who enjoyed decorating, gardening, and watching the songbirds who visited her backyard every day. Thelma was a devout communicant of St. Cecilia’s Parish. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Thelma is survived by her son Neil LeBlond and his wife Mary Beth of Branchburg, NJ; her daughter Melanie Peach and her husband Greg of Taunton, MA. Her grandsons Logan, Griffin, Kyle, and Ryan were the light of her life and she treasured time spent with her family. Thelma was predeceased by her husband of 63 years, Richard, in 2012.
Visiting hours for Thelma will be Thursday, February 1, 2024 from 9:00-11:00 AM at the Kapinos-Mazur Funeral Home, 64 Sewall St., Ludlow, MA, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial in St. Cecilia’s Church at 12:00 Noon. Burial will be in the Mass. Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, Agawam, MA at 2:00 PM. Donations in lieu of flowers in Thelma’s memory may be made to American Bird Conservancy (act.abcbirds.org).
Farewell to my little "big sister" of 40 years. We will remember her sweet treats--brownies, blueberry muffins, or a treat from Rice's or Randal's. We will remember taking her to see Christmas decorations this December. She enjoyed every minute of it. An avid bird-lover, Thelma was concerned why the birds were not coming to feed this winter. Was she giving them the wrong food, or were they eating at a better bird-feeder in the neighborhood? Maybe the birds knew their loving benefactor would be leaving shortly and would no longer be able to provide for them. I last saw Thelma at Baystate Springfield on 1/22 where Jay was having a procedure done. In her room, I said the OUR FATHER for her, said a verbal prayer, and quoted Psalm 27 :1-4 The Lord is my Light and Salvation which she repeated with me. We truly loved her. Jay and Bev Wordsworth
