Stanley T. (Spunker) Witowski, Jr., 86, of Ludlow, passed away peacefully Thursday, October 13, 2016. Son of the late Stanley T. Witowski, Sr. and Anna (Truchan) Witowski, he was born in Ludlow on July 22, 1930. A lifelong resident, Stanley graduated from Springfield Trade High School and went on to proudly serve his country as a Corporal in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was awarded the Korean Service Medal with three Bronze Stars.Stanley served the Town of Ludlow as a firefighter for 28 years, retiring in 1992.
Stanley was a communicant of St. Elizabeth Parish in Ludlow.He was as longtime member and served on the Board of Directors of the Polish American Citizens Club, a member of the Portuguese American Citizens Club and a member and past Commander of VFW Post 3236 all in Ludlow. An avid fisherman, many of Stanleys favorite times were spent on the water with his family.Three things that made Stanley happy and proud were his Polish heritage, his service on the Ludlow Fire Dept and fishing.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years Idalina (Serafim) Witowski;his son Mark Witowski and his wife Diane; two daughters Sheila Rodrigo and her husband Gabriel and Cynthia Goodreau and her husband Wayne, all of Ludlow. Stanley also leaves his five beloved grandchildren Cari Huff, Jonathan Witowski, Amber Goodreau, Eric Rodrigo and Andrew Goodreau and four great-grandchildren Dominick, Drew, Michael and Isabella.
Funeral services celebrating Stanleys life will be held Thursday, October 20, 2016 at 8:45 AM at the Kapinos-Mazur Funeral Home, 64 Sewall St, Ludlow, MA followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in St. Elizabeths Parish, Hubbard St, Ludlow, MA. Rites of Committal with Military Honors will be in Island Pond Cemetery, Center St, Ludlow, MA.
