Timeline for Simone M. (Fuchs) Monteiro
Simone Marie (née Fuchs) Monteiro, 87, of Ludlow, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Monday, August 17, 2026. She was born in St. Dizier, France, on October 31, 1938.
Simone was the beloved wife of the late Armand D. Monteiro. She was predeceased by her parents, Maurice and Celestine, and her siblings, Marceline, Elise, Fernand, Marcel, Maurice, Rene and Louis. She leaves behind her loving children, David (Ludlow, MA); Anthony and his wife, Dorothy (Brimfield, MA); Lisa and her husband, Ronald (Ludlow, MA); and Chris and his wife, Jeanine (Southport, CT). She was the cherished grandmother of Nicholas, Melanie, Christin, Jennifer, Rebecca, Tallis and CJ; and the proud great-grandmother of Abigail, Josiah, Bella and Jackson. She also leaves behind godchildren, nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews, family members and friends – both here and abroad.
Simone was a longtime resident of Ludlow and worked for several years in the Ludlow Public School System where she was able to keep a close eye on her four children. She also worked for many years in the accounting department at Massachusetts Municipal Wholesale Electric Company (MMWEC).
Simone was a wonderful cook who took great pride and pleasure in preparing meals for the people she loved. Her greatest joy, however, was her family. She was an extraordinary daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend, whose love, warmth, and devotion touched the lives of all who knew her.
Simone will be remembered for her loving heart, her generosity, her strength, and the many ways she cared for her family. She will be missed terribly and remembered always by those who were blessed to have her in their lives.
A special thank-you for the loving care from Baystate Health’s Daly 6th Floor and Hospice Care nurses and medical team.
Visiting hours at the funeral home will be Monday, August 24, 2026 from 9:15-10:30 AM at Kapinos-Mazur Funeral Home, 64 Sewall Street, Ludlow, MA, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM at St. Elizabeth’s Parish, Hubbard Street, Ludlow, MA.
