Obituary

Robert P. Sakowski, 73, of Indian Orchard, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, January 23, 2021.  Born in Ludlow on May 24, 1947, he was the son of the late Peter P. and Antonia Toni (Wyzik) Sakowski. He was a communicant of Immaculate Conception Church and a graduate of Springfield Trade High School. Bob proudly served as an Officer of the Springfield Police Dept from 1971 until 1978 when he sustained a career-ending injury on duty.  Bob was also founder and owner of the successful videography company, Spectrum Video Arts.

Robert is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years Mary (Taylor) Sakowski of Indian Orchard; two sons Davey Sakowski (Danielle Avondo) of Springfield, Andy Sakowski (Danielle) of Palmer; twin daughters Lynn Sakowski of Chicopee and Joanne Sakowski of Springfield; a sister Patricia Labuda (Danny) of Indian Orchard and his aunt Lottie Knybel of Rocky Hill, CT.  He will be deeply missed by his beloved grandchildren Gianna, Ava, and Alex, who were the absolute light of his life. He also leaves extended family Kayla and Ash, his furry friend Peaches, brothers and sisters-in-law John and Diane Dryjowicz of Ludlow, Carol Maynard of Ludlow, and Billy and Elizabeth Quinn of Indian Orchard. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews, and many cherished friends, especially Joe and Linda Banas of Ludlow.

Bob was an avid hockey dad, a nature lover and a talented videographer who loved eagle-watching at the Enfield Lookout of Quabbin Reservoir. A member of the Massachusetts Police Association, he cared deeply about his Fallen Brothers and Sisters in Blue—those he had the honor and privilege to serve with, and those he did not. Bob was a deeply loving father who in his younger years helped his boys improve their slap shots, and his girls perfect their batting swings. In his later years, he had the best Grampa jokes around.  Bob will forever be remembered for his extraordinary generosity, kindness and empathy, for his stellar sense of humor, and most of all, his infinite love.
