Robert G. Davis, 97, of East Longmeadow passed away peacefully on December 20, 2021. Born October 19, 1924 in Kingston, LA, he grew up on farms in northern Louisiana and later in the oil fields of South Arkansas. Bob proudly served his country during World War II as a Bombardier on B-24 bombers in the Army Air Corps. At the end of the war, Bob returned to Springfield to be with Lillian Gosselin, whom he had met while stationed at Westover AFB. They were married in November of 1945 and went on to have 2 sons. Bob worked for Verizon for 38 years. His greatest pleasure was time spent with his wife, family and friends. He was an avid golfer and 20 year member of Cedar Knob Golf Course.
Bob leaves behind his son Wayne Davis (Lena) of Ludlow; his grandson Shawn Davis (Cyndi) of Monson; his granddaughter Melissa Thouin (Jason) of Monson; his sister Eleanor Peterson of Coushatta, LA and 3 brothers Millard Davis (Sue) of Meridian, MS; Clifton Davis and John Davis (Frankie) both of Coushatta, LA. Bob was predeceased by his beloved wife of 65 years Lillian, his son Robert Glenn Davis as well as 2 sisters and a brother.
