Richard Paul Gavoni, Jr

Richard Paul Gavoni Jr., 53 of Ludlow passed away peacefully Saturday, July 5th, 2014, surrounded by his loving family, after a long tenacious fight against brain cancer. Born in Springfield, MA on March 30, 1961, Rich was a graduate of Classical High School and attended STCC. Giving back to his birthplace, he donated his time as both a member and President of the Sixteen Acres Lions Club. He was self employed as a contractor for many years and passed his business down to his sons Michael and Robert. Richard was the epitome of a family man and a great caring father. He loved the open waters where he loved to watch the tranquility of the ocean and shared his passion for fishing with his family at the Cape. During the winter months he spent his time either hunting with his close friends or other times alone enjoying all that nature had to offer. In the spring, he started his vegetable garden where he found solitude and peace after a long work day. Besides the ocean, he treasured his familys annual trip to Disney World, where he spent part of his honeymoon with his wife. He had a larger than life personality and was loved by all.
Rich is survived by his supportive wife of 27 years Grace (Kirnicki) Gavoni, his proud,adoring sons Richard P. III, Michael A., Robert P, all of Ludlow. He also leaves his special niece Michelle Ruark, her husband Daryle and their son Derek of Longmeadow who brought joy and peace during a time of hardship as well as her parents Elaine and Andrew Chertoff. Additionally, he leaves behind his early-morning companion, the dog, Lady, his sister Cheryl Dennette of Granby, his stepmother Lynn Gavoni of Brattleboro VT, his step-brothers Albert Ertel of Atlanta, GA and Charles Ertel of Orlando, FL. Sadly, Rich was pre-deceased by his father Richard P. Gavoni, Sr, in May, 2014.
