Richard D. Tyburski

Richard D. Tyburski, 92 of Ludlow, passed away peacefully on September 23, 2026. Born in Springfield MA March 31, 1934, he was the son of the late Frederick and Eva (Swieczek) Tyburski. Richard was a graduate of local schools as well as Worcester State Teaching College now known as Worcester University. Richard taught in the Springfield public elementary school on Howard st. as well as in the Holyoke Public schools as a Special Education teacher. He also served as a Special Education Director in Holyoke. He served on the Ludlow School Committee from 1974 – 1988. Richard was involved with Sunshine Village along with his wife Jennie. He also taught at the Jericho program during summer breaks teaching culinary arts, in Holyoke with Father Wagner. For many years, on Memorial and Labor days, Richard and Jennie enjoyed entertaining family and friends at their home in Ludlow.

Richard is survived by his children Karen Chapman (Danny) and Daniel Tyburski, both of Ludlow and Kristine Donovan (Michael) of Valrico, Florida. He also leaves his grandchildren Christine Houlberg, Kevin Keough (Becky), Kasie Keough, Michelle Donovan, Shana Penman, Lisa Donovan and Daniel Donovan. He also leaves his sister-in-law Irene Kosior, as well as many relatives and friends.

He was predeceased by his wife Jennie (Oszustowicz) Tyburski, his brothers Freddie, his twin Ronald and his younger brother Carl Tyburski.

Richard was a devout communicant of Christ the King Church in Ludlow where he also enjoyed making golumpki and pierogies for the picnics and food sales. Richard was also a devout fan of watching daily mass and game shows. He was proud of his Polish Heritage and was involved with the Polish American Citizens club in Ludlow with his wife Jennie, for many years.
Richard always prayed to Father Pio whom passed away September 23, 1968, as Richard passed September 23, 2026.

Visiting hours for Richard will be held on Friday, October 16, 2026 from 9:00-10:30 AM at the Kapinos-Mazur Funeral Home, 64 Sewall St., Ludlow, MA, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM in Christ the King Church, Warsaw Ave, Ludlow, MA. Burial will be in St. Stanislaus B.M. Cemetery, Montgomery St, Chicopee, MA.
