Philip L. Davis

Philip L. Davis, 86, of Belchertown, passed away on Saturday, June 11, 2022.  Born in Springfield, MA on August 17, 1935, he was the son of the late Theodore and Mildred (Larson) Davis.  Philip proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Army for 8 years during the Korean War.  He went on to work for the former State Line Potato Chip Co and Ace Hardware, retiring in 1998.  Philip was a man of few words who loved the outdoors, especially fishing.  He also loved classical music, Beethoven, opera and ABBA. He was a history buff, enjoyed Red Sox baseball. He was handy with hands and was an accomplished woodworker making rocking horses, tables etc. for family and friends.

Philip is survived by his beloved wife of 36 years Judith (Goodreau) Davis; his step-children Judith Birks, JoAnne Tetrault (Joseph)  He also leaves his grandchildren Brittany Cassese (Andrew) and Justin Tetrault (Katelyn) and a great-granddaughter Scarlett. Sadly he was predeceased by his step-son Joseph O’Neill IV, his brother Gerald Davis and his sister Patricia Tencatti.

A graveside service for Philip with Military Honors will be held on Saturday, June 18, 2022 at 10:30 AM in Prospect Hill Cemetery, 18 Scantic Road,Hampden, MA. Philip’s family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations in his memory be made to St. Jude Childrens’ Research Hospital at www.stjude.org or Shriners’ Hospital for Children at www.shrinerschildren.org.
