Pauline J. (Kusek) Cijka, 89, of Ludlow, passed away on Saturday, September 28, 2024. Daughter of the late John and Sophie (Gula) Kusek she was born in Palmer, MA on April 28, 1935. Pauline was a 1953 graduate of Palmer High School and worked for the U.S. Postal Service for many years. A longtime Ludlow resident, she was a member of Christ the King Parish. Having grown up during the Great Depression in a poor farming family, Pauline knew the meaning of hard work, sharing and sacrifice. Pauline was very proud of her Polish heritage and visited Poland twice with her son Michael.
Pauline is survived by her sons Stephen Cijka (Wendy), Stanley Cijka and Michael Cijka; her daughters Anna Etkin (Steve) and Mary Flores (Walt) and her sister Josephine Rogers. She also leaves her 4 beloved grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Stephen Cijka in 1995, her brothers Kazimierz, Walter, Raymond and Stanley Kusek and her sisters Mary Tobiasz, Veronica Kusek, Bertha Toton, Helen Zagula, Clara Gongola and Anna Kusek.
Visiting hours for Pauline will be Saturday, October 5, 2024 from 9:30-10:30 AM at the Kapinos-Mazur Funeral Home, 64 Sewall St., Ludlow, MA, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM in Christ the King Church. Burial will be in St, Aloysius Cemetery. Pauline’s family asks that donations in her memory be made to your local food pantry.
