Oresto H. Orie Panaccione 96, a member of the Greatest Generation, died peacefully surrounded by his loved ones on Wednesday April 24, 2013 in Life Care Center of Wilbraham. Born in Barre, MA June 21, 1916 son of the late Atillio and Casandra Panaccione. He proudly served his country during World War II as a member of the United States Navy. Orie worked as a mason tender for many years with Conti Construction. He was also a noted woodworker. He was a faithful Communicant of the Catholic Community of St. Elizabeth, and a member of it’s League of the Sacred Heart. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Loretta P. (Tetrault) Panaccione, A son David Panaccione and his wife Diane of Brimfield, MA and a daughter Joanne LaFleur of Holland, MA. Cherished grandfather of Amanda LaFleur, Daniel LaFleur, Angela Panaccione, and Anthony Panaccione. Adoring great grandfather of Orie LaFleur. Brother of Estelle Carlson, Donald Panaccione, Warren Panaccione, Alvin Panaccione, and Douglas Panaccione. Also survived by many nieces and nephews, extended family members and friends. Sadly he was predeceased by brothers Thomas and David Panaccione.

Funeral services celebrating his life will be Wednesday May 1, 2013 at 10:30 AM from the Kapinos-Mazur Funeral Home 64 Sewall St. Ludlow followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial offered by the Catholic Community of St. Elizabeth in St. John the Baptist Church 181 Hubbard St. Ludlow at 11 AM Msgr. Homer P. Gosselin will preside. Rites of Committal with Military Honors will follow in Island Pond Cemetery.
