Norman L. Mackenzie Strader, 93, of Ludlow passed away on Saturday, July 4, 2026. Born February 13, 1933 in Manhattan NY, he was the son of the late Louis and Elizabeth (Mackenzie) Strader. Norman proudly served his country as a Seabee in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War and also served in the Army Reserve until his retirement. He graduated from Mercy/Providence School of Anesthesia in 1968 and received his BS from the University of New Hampshire. He worked over 50 years as an anesthetist, retiring in 2003 from Springfield Anesthesia.
Norman is survived by his loving wife of 59 years Gloria (Beaudoin) Strader; his children David Loehr (Tamra), Geoffrey Strader and Michelle Mayou (Former son-in-law Jerome Mayou); his sister Heather Peters; brother-in-law Louis Beaudion (Brenda) and his sister-in-law Karen Williams. He also leaves his 4 beloved grandchildren Emma and Erin Mayou, Jered and Kara Loehr, as well as his 3 great grandchildren Kaileigh, Gage and Mackenzie Loehr, along with several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister Lois Blakely and his brother-in-law Kenneth Williams.
A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Norman will be Friday, July 10, 2026 at 12:00 Noon in St. Elizabeth’s Parish, Hubbard St, Ludlow, MA. Please meet directly at church. Rites of Committal with Military Honors will follow in Island Pond Cemetery. There are no calling hours. Donations in Norman’s memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or to St. Labre Indian School.
