Michael S. Obrzut Jr., 90, of Ludlow, passed away on Thursday, December 5, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Son of the late Michael S, Obrzut Sr. and Ruth (McIntire) Obrzut he was born in Plymouth, NH on June 6, 1934. A longtime Ludlow resident, Mike was a graduate of Springfield Trade High School. He worked as a toolmaker for 30 years at Tippet Tool and another 25 years for DFF. Mike loved the outdoors and was an avid hiker and climber. One of his favorite spots to hike was Cannon Mountain, home of the ”Old Man of the Mountain” in Franconia, NH. He loved bowling, participating in many leagues throughout his life. Mike was a communicant of St. Elizabeth’s Parish in Ludlow and a member of the League of the Sacred Heart.
Mike is survived by his children Michael A. Obrzut (Alice); Sharon Sepanek (Ron); Sandra Jenkins (Todd) and Laurie Cioch (David) along with his 7 grandchildren Jason, Nichol, Joey, Anna, Matthew, Zach and Jordan and 3 great-grandchildren Isabella, Tyler and Addison. Mike also leaves his step-children Chuck, Danny, Cindy and Mark Saloio and their families; his lifelong friends Ernie Demby, Don Sowa, Don Mayou, Wilfred (Willie) Minne, Roger Patenaude, Eugene Robataille, Charlie Gravelin and Monsignor Homer Gosselin. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife Mary “Molly” Obrzut in 2022 and his step-daughter Vivian Colter.
Special thanks to the team from Compassus Hospice and his neighbor Joey Robak for their care and kindness for Mike.
Funeral services for Mike will be Saturday, December 14, 2024 at 9:00 AM at the Kapinos-Mazur Funeral Home, 54 Sewall St., Ludlow. MA followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in St. Elizabeth’s Parish, Hubbard St., Ludlow, MA. Burial will be in St. Aloysius Cemetery, Berkshire Ave, Springfield, MA. Visiting hours at the funeral home will be Friday, December 13, 2024 from 4:00-7:00 PM.
