Matthew A. Zalucki, 27 of Belchertown passed away at home on Saturday, June 1st, 2019. Son of Gerald and Suzanne (Daudelin) Zalucki, he was born in Springfield on February 13th, 1992. Matt was a graduate of Belchertown High school, received an Associate’s degree in English from Holyoke Community College with Honors and was finishing his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. He was employed by Auto Custom Leathers.
Matthew was an avid sports fan, Matt’s love for Hockey started at an early age. He played for many travel teams growing up and was a four year varsity Hockey player for The Belchertown Orioles. He continued playing afterwards for various beer leagues, also, working as an assistant coach with the Springfield Rifles. His passion for sports continued with love for the Bruins, Red Sox’s, Celtics and Patriots, also a repeat Fantasy Football Champion. He also enjoyed fishing, reading and did not miss an episode of Games of Thrones.
In addition to his parents, Matt is survived by his best friend and loving sister Jessica Zalucki and his faithful dog Rico who was always by his side. He also leaves grandparent, several aunts, cousins and extended family and friends.
Services celebrating Matt’s life will be held Saturday, June 8th, 2019 at 11:00 AM at the Kapinos-Mazur Funeral Home, 64 Sewall St., Ludlow, MA. Burial will be private, at the convenience of the family. Visiting hours at the funeral home will precede the service from 9:00-11:00 AM. Matt’s family requests that in lieu of flowers, to honor his love for Hockey, donations be made to the “Matthew Zalucki Hockey Fund”. This scholarship fund will be used to pay for equipment and ice time for less fortunate players. Can be sent to 2 Canal Drive, Belchertown, MA 01007.
