Lucy M. Konieczny, of Ludlow, passed away peacefully at home on February 12th at the age of 94. She was the daughter of the late Peter and Katherine (Harezga) Konieczny. A lifelong resident of Ludlow, she lived in the same house where she was raised. She graduated from Ludlow High School and Park Edge Secretarial School in Springfield. She attended American International College for business. Lucy was an independent lady who was outspoken with a strong moral compass. Known to family as Auntie Lucy, she enjoyed attending family gatherings. She was adventurous and traveled throughout the United States and Europe but spent summer vacations on the Cape. Golfing was her favorite sport to play and she gladly shared her skills. She would sew, knit and crochet items for every occasion and beautifully craft Christmas stockings for new family members. Lucy was proud of her Polish heritage and Catholic faith as a communicant of Christ the King parish. She worked for Monsanto Chemical Co. as an assistant in purchasing and retired after many years of service.
She was predeceased by her sisters Isabel Majka and Stella Longhi and brothers Walter Konieczny and Stanley Konieczny. Nieces and nephews will dearly miss Auntie Lucy, especially Joanne Konieczny Sharpe and her husband Ken of Springfield.
The family would like to thank Zofia for the constant care she provided for many years and for the care by health aids from Polish Home Care Agency and Beacon Hospice. Special thanks to her neighbors for their assistance and kindness.
Private burial is at Hillcrest Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
