Lillian D. (Buczoki) Lewison, 97, of Ludlow, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 2, 2024, with family by her side. She was the daughter of the late Peter and Frances (Shewchuk) Buczoki and was born in Southwick, MA, on August 12, 1926. She was a 1944 graduate of Ludlow High School, where she was the class valedictorian. She earned her B.S. in Horticulture from Mass Agricultural College, Amherst, MA, in 1948 and went on to obtain her teaching certificate from American International College. She taught 1st grade at Chapin Street School in Ludlow for 32 years and was a longtime member of Bethesda Lutheran Church in Springfield.
She was also a former member of the Ludlow Historical Commission and her favorite interests were flower gardening, shopping, reading, and knitting.
Lillian is survived by her children Michael P. Lewison (Marybeth), Diane Cousineau and Elaine Hodgman, all from the local area, and Karen Drazek (Roger) of Ripley, ME. She also leaves her 7 grandchildren Amanda Hebert (Jim), Rebecca Lewison, Russ Drazek, Sarah Lewison, Andrea Rollins (Ernest), Nathan Hodgman and Samantha Hodgman, and 2 great granddaughters, Josephine and Hazel Mae. Sadly, she was predeceased by her husband Michael J. Lewison in 1988, her brother Theodore Buczoki and her son-in-law Dave Hodgman.
Visiting hours for Lillian will be Friday, April 19, 2024, from 9:00-10:00 AM at Christ the King-Epiphany Church, 758 Main St., Wilbraham, MA, followed by a service at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow at 1:00 PM in St. Joseph Cemetery, Plain Road, Hinsdale, NH. In lieu of flowers, donations in Lillian’s memory may be made to Draft Gratitude (Draft horse rescue farm) 148 Ashuelot St., Winchester, NH 03470.

I am so sorry to hear of the passing of dear Mrs Lewison. She was my teacher for only one year but I remember her fondly. I think of her often as I’m sometimes asked online who my favorite teacher was. It was her. I’m lucky to have known her.
