Obituary

Lewis A. Crapser, 71, of Ludlow, passed away peacefully at Baystate Medical Center on Thursday, January 26, 2023 with his family at his side. Born in Cobleskill, NY to the late Alvah and Ruth (Hellijas) Crapser. He moved to Monson, MA where he received most of his education. Lewis went on to proudly serve as a member of the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He later then served in Ft. Devens and The Army National Guard. He owned and operated Black Diamond Transport in Springfield, MA for many years after finding his passion for driving for Travel Line and Five Star as a tour bus driver.  In his free time he loved to play drums and guitar with his friends and ride his Harley with his son.

He met the love of his life in 1968 and they married in 1971.  Lewis is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years Debra (Pirog) Crapser of Ludlow; his sons Brian Crapser and his wife Nina of Stafford, CT and Jeff Crapser of Ludlow and his daughter Tina May Mansfield of Springfield,MA as well as his grandchildren CheyAnne, Savanna, Austin and Skylar.  He also leaves his sisters Phyllis Mead of Richmondville, NY, Arlene Griswold-Matys of Vail, AZ and Debra Lorenz and her husband Harry of Ludlow, MA.  He also leaves many nieces and nephews, cousins and many friends made over his lifetime and his ‘little buddy’ and childhood friend, Brian LaCouture and his wife Laurie of Leyden, MA. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother Marvin Crapser and his sister Thelma Bradway.

Per Lewis’s request there will be no calling hours and any services held will be private.
