Joseph J. Banas Jr., 82, of Ludlow passed away Wednesday, April 25, 2018. Son of the late Joseph J. and Sophie (Prosol) Banas, he was born in Springfield on November 30, 1935. A longtime Ludlow resident, he was a graduate of Ludlow High School. Joseph worked as a truck driver for Consolidated Freight and Spector . He was a communicant of Christ the King Church.
Joseph loved Polish music, bowling and the outdoors. His greatest pleasure came from being a Dziadziu to his grandchildren and his special “grand dog” Buford. The brought him the greatest joy in life.
Joseph is survived by his loving wife of 61 years Joan (Szarek) Banas, his son Joseph J. Banas III and his wife Briana and his daughter Kathryn Banas, all of Ludlow. He leaves his brother-in-law Ronald Szarek with is wife Joanne of Chicopee. He also leaves his brother Ralph Banas and his wife Joanne of Ludlow. He leaves his 2 beloved grandchildren Joseph Banas IV and Alina Kathryn Banas. They were truly the light of his life.
Visiting hours at the funeral home are Monday, April 30, 2018 from 4:00-7:00 PM.
Funeral services for Joseph will be held Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at 11:00 AM at the Kapinos-Mazur Funeral Home, 64 Sewall St., Ludlow, MA. Burial will follow in Island Pond Cemetery, Center St., Ludlow, MA.
