Joseph F. Lyons, 94, of Ludlow, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 15, 2023. Son of the late John and Mary (Minton) Lyons, he was born in Boston on June 15, 1929. A graduate of Cambridge and Latin High School, Joe went on to proudly serve his country as an Army radio operator during the Korean War. He went on to work for Denman Electronics, ITT and the Mass Turnpike Authority for many years. Joe was a member of the Knights of Columbus and American Legion, Chicopee Elks, the East Longmeadow Ballroom Dance Club, After Five Tea Dance Club and the Walker Hall Dance Group. He also served as Past Commander of Springfield District 1 US Power Squadrons.
Joe is survived by his daughter Diane Lyons-Frasco of Southwick; his sons Joseph S. Lyons (wife, Diane) of Little River, SC; Dwayne Lyons (wife, Jane) of Wales, MA; his special friends Maria and Menna Ronghi, Fran, John and other dancing friends. He also leaves a son-in-law Robert Frasco and grandsons Paul Frasco and Gregory Frasco. Sadly, he was predeceased by his wife Virginia Lyons in 2014; his brother John and two sisters Mary and Catherine.
Visiting hours for Joe will be will be Monday, November 20, 2023 from 9:00-10:00 AM at the Kapinos-Mazur Funeral Home, 64 Sewall St., Ludlow, MA. A 10:00 AM funeral home service will be followed by burial in Island Pond Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the charity of your choice.
