Obituary

James J. Bednarczyk, 70, of Ludlow, passed away on Friday, September 30, 2022 with his loving wife and son by his side, after a courageous year long battle with pancreatic cancer.  Son of the late Bronislaus (Bennie) and Wanda (Skura) Bednarczyk, he was born on March 19, 1952.  A 1970 graduate of Ludlow High School, he attended Holyoke Community College. In his youth, Jim was a fantastic baseball player and a feared power hitter in adult softball leagues.  He retired as a chemical operator from Solutia (formerly Monsanto) in 2007.  Prior to Solutia,  he worked as a produce manager at Shop Rite.  Jim and his wife Pattie loved cruising to Hawaii and Aruba and vacationing on Cape Cod.  He loved all local pro sports teams: Bruins, Celtics, Red Sox and especially the Patriots since their inception in 1959.  He and son Marc were on the field for the famous NFL playoff game, known as the “Tuck Rule Game” in January 2002, which was the first playoff game for a guy named Tom Brady…aka “The GOAT”.  After that epic win over the Oakland Raiders, Jim met TB12 in the locker room.  He was lucky enough to meet him again after another Pats win over the Jets.  In 2013, Jim received a personal letter from team owner Robert Kraft for being one of the biggest Patriots fans of all. He was well known for his daily three mile walks where he was friendly to all he met.

Jim is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years Patrice Ann (Provost) Bednarczyk; his son Marc Bednarczyk and his father-in-law Leon Provost.  He was predeceased by the best mother-in-law a man could ask for Clarice Provost in July, 2000.

Jim’s family would like to express their appreciation and gratitude to Nancy Ramella, Mary Morcavage and daughter Danielle and Alice Fitzgerald and son Shawn for all their kindness, care and support during his illness.

The family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday, October 5, 2022 from 4:00-7:00 PM at the Kapinos-Mazur Funeral Home, 64 Sewall St., Ludlow, MA. Funeral services will be private.

Even in all this heartache, we have a loving God that intimately knows our loss and the inevitable sorrow that follows. He loves us, cares for us, and experiences heartbreak right along with us. We live in a fallen world full of pain and heartache, but God is bigger than all we experience, and we can trust that He will sit with us in our pain and give us the strength we need to heal. Patti we will help wherever we can. From some of your best friends in this life and in the next. John & Kathy & Family (John Jr. Cheryl, Lori and Joe). We will miss you.
