Obituary

Helen J. (Sroka) Ziencina-Slicer, 100, of Ludlow, passed away on Monday, May 25, 2026. Daughter of the late John and Apolonia (Dusza) Sroka, she was born in Ludlow on December 10, 1925. A lifelong resident, Helen, worked at Springfield Wire for many years. She was a communicant of Christ the King Church. She was a talented trumpet player, enjoyed candlepin bowling and puzzles. Helen loved hosting Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas for her family, well into her 90’s. She enjoyed her weekly breakfasts with her son and grandsons and shopping with her granddaughter. And, like many of us, she was a devoted Red Sox fan.

Helen is survived by her sons Mitchell Ziencina and his wife Arlene; Kenneth Ziencina and his wife Tina and Frederick Ziencina. She also leaves her grandchildren Katie Meccariello and her husband Bryan, Daniel Ziencina and Michael Ziencina as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers Max, Walter and Fred Sroka and her sisters Viola Albee, Jenny Sedlowski and Stella Marois.

Funeral services for Helen will by Saturday, May 30, 2026 at 9:00 AM at the Kapinos-Mazur Funeral Home, 64 Sewall St., Ludlow, MA 01056 followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in Christ the King Church, Warsaw Ave., Ludlow, MA. Burial will be in St Aloysius Cemetery. Visiting hours at the funeral home will be Friday, May 29, 2026 from 5:00-7:00PM. Donations in Helen’s memory may be made to the charity of one’s choice.

Aunt Helen, who lived a wonderful life , she was my Queen. Last year in June I flew back and my friend Jimmy to Ludlow from Dallas , took Aunt Helen out to dinner , purchased a Tiara and for her had a wonderful time . She was precious and special

I will never forget Helen!!!! I did her hair every Thursday morning @8:00 am for so many years! She was my client and friend and family all in one ! She and I were together for all my life events from being single to being a grandmother and everything in between she was a kind soul and there wasn’t a Thursday that I didn’t look forward to to our visit !I will mourn her passing and thank God for her life ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️RIP sweet Helen!!!
