Helen Rose (Gasiarek) Dumais 84 of Ludlow died peacefully Thursday morning in a local nursing home. Born in Springfield, MA September 6, 1928 daughter of the late Michael Baj and Catherine Gasiarek. Educated in local schools, she had worked for F. W. Sickles and later for Digital Corporation with over 15 years of service. A Communicant of the Catholic Community of St. Elizabeth, she was a member of the Ludlow Sr. Citizens Club, was a faithful member of the Christ the King Church Perpetual Adoration Chapel. Helen served the Town of Ludlow as a town meeting member, as a member of the zoning board of appeals, and as a member of the Mobil Home Rent Control Board. She was the widow of Maurice R. Dumais Sr. who died in 2007. She is survived by her loving family, Son Thomas Dumais and his wife Isabel of Springfield, Alice L. Phoenix and her husband Raymond of Ludlow, a grandson Raymond Phoenix and his wife Alicia and a great-granddaughter Viola Rose Phoenix all of Ludlow. Also survived by extended family members and friends. Sadly she was pre-deceased by a son Maurice R. Dumais Jr in 2005.

Funeral services celebrating her life will be Monday May 20, 2013 with family and friends gathering at the Kapinos-Mazur Funeral Home 64 Sewall St. Ludlow at 7:45 AM to be followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial Offered by the Catholic Community of St. Elizabeth in St. John the Baptist Church 181 Hubbard St. Ludlow at 9 AM. Msgr. Homer P. Gosselin will preside.
