Gordon M. Martin, 87, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 9, 2017. Son of the late Joseph and Elizabeth (Fenton) Martin, he was born March 9, 1930 in Verdun (Montreal), Quebec, Canada. He proudly served his country as a member of the U.S, Army during the Korean War, earning Korean and UN Service medals and two Bronze Stars. A longtime Ludlow resident, Gordon worked 43 years, both freight and passenger service, for the Boston and Maine Railroad, closing his career as Conductor on AmTrack. Gordon will be remembered for his quiet strength and love of family, with a kind and generous heart. He was truly “The Master Storyteller”
He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years Kathleen (Babbin) Martin of Ludlow; his children Robert Martin of Ludlow, Maureen Preston (William) of Scarborough, ME, John Martin of Sommerville, MA and Darin Martin (Mary Warren) of Maui, HI; his brother Jack Martin (June) of Pasco, WA; 3 sisters Fay Inman and Marilyn Harden both of Seattle, WA, and Beverly Zwicker of Brownville Junction, ME. Gordon also leaves his beloved grandchildren Everett and Amelia Martin. Sadly he was predeceased by his son Michael Martin in 2004; brothers Donald and Thomas Martin and sisters Alice Watts and Marian Jones.
Visiting hours at the funeral home will be Thursday, December 14, 2017 from 5:00 PM until the time of the service.
Funeral services with Military Honors will be held Thursday, December 14, 017 at 6:30 PM at the Kapinos-Mazur Funeral Home, 64 Sewall St., Ludlow, MA. Burial in Greenville, Maine will take place in June, 2018.
