Genevieve Halgas

Genevieve Halgas of Woodbury, VT., formerly of Ludlow, MA., died September 11, 2014 at Berlin Health & Rehab Center in Berlin, VT. Born April 8, 1924 in Three Rivers, MA she was the daughter of the late Stanis and Maryanna (Sawicki) Niemiec. She attended St. Peter & Paul School and graduated from Palmer High School.

On August 16, 1947 she married John F. Halgas Sr. at St. Peter & Paul Church in Three Rivers. He died in November 1989. Genevieve was employed at Tampax Industries in Three River and until she retired in 1989 she worked for Rexall-Dart Industries in Ludlow.

Genevieve was a member of Christ the King Church, its Rosary Sodality, the Polonaise Club and the VFW Auxiliary all in Ludlow. She was an avid bingo player and enjoyed watching television, especially the game shows and the church channels.

Survivors include three children: Frances Theroux and her husband, Joseph of Woodbury, VT., John F. Halgas Jr. of Ludlow and Lorraine Scott-Griffin of Chicopee; 6 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; 1 great- great granddaughter. She was predeceased by 8 siblings
