Floyd E. LaMondia Jr, 89, of Enfield passed away on Tuesday, March 30, 2021 surrounded by his loving family. Son of the late Floyd and Sarah LaMondia, Floyd was born in Springfield in 1931. Educated in Springfield schools, Floyd went on to graduate from Hartford Institute of Accounting. He proudly served our country as a staff sergeant in the U.S. Air Force for 4 years during the Korean War. He worked as an accountant for Kaman Aerospace for 30 years. A longtime Ludlow resident he was a communicant of St. Elizabeth’s Parish in Ludlow and a member of the League of the Sacred Heart. A man of many talents and interests he loved to travel and spend winters in Florida after retiring. He was an avid outdoorsman, furniture maker, golfer, photographer and handy man. Most of all he loved spending time with his family and friends.
Floyd is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years Lois; 2 sons James LaMondia and his wife Bonnie; Thomas LaMondia and his wife Susan and his daughter Catherine Gaylor and her husband Michael; his sisters Beverly Stalmann and Janice Campbell. He also leaves his 9 grandchildren Jeffrey, Patrick, Christopher, Katelyn, Cara, Allyson, Carly, Cameron and Matthew and 4 great-grandchildren; Wesley, Raegan, Brooklyn and Indy, as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents Floyd was predeceased by his brothers John and Charles LaMondia. .
Family and friends are invited to gather for a Liturgy of Christian Burial for Floyd on Thursday, April 8, 2021 at 11:00 AM in St Elizabeth’s Parish, Hubbard St., Ludlow, MA. Rites of Committal with Military Honors will follow in the Massachusetts Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, Main St., Agawam, MA. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made in Floyd’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or www.stjude.org. Masks, social distancing, no contact and all gathering restrictions will be adhered to.
