Elizabeth B. (Golden) Gaviglio, 90, of Ludlow, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 6, 2017, surrounded by her loving family. A lifelong Ludlow resident, Betty was the daughter of the late William C. and Mary Ellen (Bowler) Golden. A graduate of local schools, Betty was the Executive Secretary of Personnel at Monsanto. She was also active in the family’s business, Gaviglio’s Package Store, serving as the company’s Secretary. Betty was very politically motivated for what she believed was for the betterment of the town and its children, and was a devout communicant of the former St. Mary of the Assumption Parish and later St. Elizabeth’s Parish in Ludlow.
Betty is survived by her beloved husband of over 66 years Henry E. Gaviglio of Ludlow, 5 sons Henry E. Gaviglio Jr. (Alice), Mark Gaviglio (Janice), Greg Gaviglio (Beverly), John Gaviglio (Nancy) and David Gaviglio; 4 daughters Sylvia Duca (Thomas), Mary Beth Gaviglio, Cynthia Balyozian (Charles) and Carla Dorato (Cyrille Couet). Betty also leaves her 10 beloved grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, and many more nieces, nephews and family pets.
Visiting hours at the funeral home are Thursday, May 11, 2017 from 5:00-8:00 PM.
Funeral services celebrating Betty’s life will be held Friday, May 12, 2017 at 9:45 AM at the Kapinos-Mazur Funeral Home, 64 Sewall St, Ludlow, MA, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11:00 in St. Elizabeth’s Parish, Hubbard St, Ludlow, MA. Burial will follow in St. Michael’s Cemetery, State St. Springfield, MA.
