Eleanor (Haluch) Walls, 97, passed away peacefully September 13, 2016 in Frankfort, KY. Born in Ludlow, MA on February 23, 1919, she was the youngest daughter of the late Ludwick and Aniela Haluch. She spent 92 years in Ludlow, graduating from Ludlow High School in 1937. She participated in many 4H activities during her youth and as an adult leader. Eleanor exhibited Guernsey cattle raised on her familys farm at county fairs and the Big E. She had particular memories of her time there during the hurricane of 1938. Eleanor was a member of the Ludlow Grange for 78 years, the Neighborhood Garden Club and Mothers Club. She worked at the former Albert Steiger Co. and Grey Nook Flower Shop as a floral designer. Her love of home gardening led to creating herbal and floral wreaths and arrangements for local craft shows. She taught at the Home Improvement Center in East Longmeadow.
A communicant of Christ the King Church, she was a member of the Rosary Sodality and St. Annes Sodality and a regular attendee of the Perpetual Adoration Chapel. Eleanor enjoyed nearly 50 years of marriage to George M. Walls who predeceased her in 1996. She was also predeceased by her siblings Staffnia Harris, Annie Maynard, Raymond and Theodore Haluch.
Eleanor is survived by her son David Walls and his wife Kimberly of Peaks Mill, KY; daughter Mary Lou Chunglo and her husband Cal of Harrodsburg, KY; grandchildren Adam and Elizabeth Chunglo of KY; Ellen and Nick Binsfeld of MN and Christopher Walls of MA. She also leaves great-grandchildren Emily, Seth and Jimmy as well as very special friends, nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services for Eleanor will be held Monday, September 19, 2016 at 8:45 AM at the Kapinos-Mazur Funeral Home, 64 Sewall St, Ludlow, MA followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in Christ the King Church, Warsaw Ave, Ludlow, MA. Rites of Committal will follow in Island Pond Cemetery, Center St, Ludlow, MA.
