Delina T. (Messier) Odell Clarke, 87, of Belchertown, passed away peacefully in the presence of her family on Friday, November 5, 2021. Born in Springfield on November 1, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Ulric and Rosalina (Demaio) Messier. Delina grew up in the Forest Park section of Springfield, attended Holy Name School and was a graduate of Cathedral High School. She worked as a dietary aide at the former Ludlow Hospital and then at Wing Hospital. Delina was a communicant of St. Elizabeth’s Parish. A longtime, Ludlow resident, she was a loving and devoted mother. Known as “Mrs. O” to the neighborhood children, her’s was the home that welcomed all kids as her own. Her ice skating, tobogganing, and roller skating trips are fondly remembered. Delina enjoyed crocheting to provide hats and mittens that warmed up the neighborhood. She made beautiful memories for all.
Delina is survived by her children Donald Odell Jr. (Cheryl) of Palmer, William Odell (Catherine) of Springfield and Darlene Gendron (John) of Fitchburg and her brother Phillip Messier (Gail) of Springfield. She also leaves her 8 beloved grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Sadly she was predeceased by her first husband Donald Odell Sr. in 1967 and her 2nd husband Donald Clarke in 2006.
Funeral services for Delina will be Saturday, November 13, 2021 at 11:00 AM at the Kapinos-Mazur Funeral Home followed by burial in St. Michael’s Cemetery. Visiting hours will precede the service from 9:00-11:00 AM. Donations in Delina’s memory may be made to National Kidney Foundation, 30 East 33rd St, NY, NY 10016 or www.kidney.org.
