David L. Wells

David L. Wells, 82, of Ludlow passed away on Wednesday, February 7, 2024. Son of the late Clement and Dorothy (Martin) Wells, he was born in Springfield on July 20, 1941. A graduate of Springfield Trade High School, class of 1959, Dave worked as a heating technician for several local oil companies, retiring from Punderson Oil. He was a retired member of Teamsters Local 404, where he served as union steward. Dave served as a Technical Sergeant in the Air Force Reserves, retiring in 1999 from the 58th Aerial Port Squadron at Westover Air Reserve Base. He was a loyal N.Y. Yankee and New England Patriots fan. He enjoyed many summers camping in Rhode Island and his winters in Florida. Dave was a member of St. Elizabeth’s Parish in Ludlow.

Sadly, Dave was predeceased by his beloved wife of 59 years Janice (Phoenix) Wells in 2020. He is survived by his sons Dean Wells of Ludlow and Brian Wells and his wife Kathleen of Killingworth, CT and his brother-in-law Raymond Phoenix II and nephew Raymond Phoenix III of Ludlow. He also leaves his grandson Ian Wells and his step-grandchildren Kelly, Corey and Dillon McQuade, as well as several cousins.

Dave’s family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Baystate Medical Center, Springfield 1400, for their outstanding care and compassion during the past months.

Funeral services for Dave will be Thursday, February 15, 2024 at 9:00 AM at the Kapinos-Mazur Funeral Home, 64 Sewall St., Ludlow, MA followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in St. Elizabeth’s Parish, Hubbard St. Ludlow, MA. Burial will follow in Island Pond Cemetery. Visiting hours at the funeral home will be Wednesday, February 14, 2024 from 5:00-7:00 PM.
