Obituary

Colette (Gregoire) Denette, 78, of Ludlow passed away peacefully on Monday, April 28, 2025, surrounded by her family. Daughter of the late Roland and Theresa (Bissaillon) Gregoire, she was born in Springfield on July 3, 1946. Colette grew up in Ludlow and graduated from Ludlow High School in 1964. She went on to work several clerical jobs including Friendly’s and retired from Turbo Care Manufacturing in document control, where she made lifelong friends. She was a communicant of St. Elizabeth’s Parish in Ludlow.

Colette is survived by her husband of 58 years Richard Denette; her children Denise Echols (David), Michelle Denette, Michael Denette (Kim) and Edward Denette (Amy); her sister Anne Peterson; her brothers Roland Gregoire, Philip Gregoire (Linda), Christopher Gregoire (Karen), Alan Gregoire and Carl Gregoire (Patty). She also leaves her 14 grandchildren Lyndsay (Nick), Kylie (Tom), Cameron, Alexis (Eric), Dominique, Kayla (Caleb), Dylan (Jess), Austyn (Eylen), Haley (Jake), Paige, Mason, Juliana, Gabrielle (Christian), and Lilyana (Johnny); her 7 great-grandchildren Sophia, Emilia, Henry, Tristan, Audrey, Melo and baby Florence who will soon join the family as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Colette was loved by everyone who met her. She leaned on her Faith during the good times but especially during the difficult times. She shared her love of the ocean with her family and loved spending time with her husband, Richard, at their special place the Nubble lighthouse in Maine. She enjoyed gardening and taking care of her many plants, sitting on her porch watching hummingbirds and laying in her hammock. She was a lover of Elvis, Betty Boop and Ladybugs. She was an amazing cook and was known for her eclairs. She was the truest definition of a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, neighbor, friend. Every addition to her ever-growing family gave her much joy and excitement. She was the happiest when she was with her family especially blessed to spend time with her great-grandchildren. Her love was selfless and she will forever be missed by her family and friends. She leaves a legacy of Love.

I only had the pleasure of meeting Colette once but she made an impression right away. She radiated warmth, kindness, care, and love. It was clear she was the matriarch or the family and was a rock for many.
