Claire L. (Gauthier) Coache, 86, a lifelong Ludlow resident, passed away Sunday, August 26, 2018. Daughter of the late Hector and Nora (Liddell) Gauthier, she was born on February 28, 1932. A graduate of Ludlow High School, Claire began her working career starting at Chapman Valve in Indian Orchard. She moved onto bookkeeping jobs at various companies, including SIS Bank, and St John the Baptist Rectory, where she retired. She was a devout communicant of St. Elizabeth’s Parish in Ludlow, a member of the Ladies of St. Anne and very active in the social activities of the parish. While raising her children, Claire was instrumental in supporting them through a variety of 4-H activities. She enjoyed attending all of their activities but especially enjoyed the Sunday dinners and all the regular family gatherings.
Claire is survived by her loving husband of 63 years Richard J. Coache of Ludlow; her son David Coache (Angie) of Enfield, CT; 2 daughters Elaine Baillargeon (Guy) and Maureen Lauzon (John) both of Ludlow as well as her brother Kenneth Gauthier of Singer Island, FL and sister-in-law Catherine (Helen) Gauthier of Ludlow. She also leaves 9 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Sadly, Claire was predeceased by her son Paul Coache and her brother Eugene Gauthier, sisters: Delores Corliss, Eleanor Lavoie, Alma Audette, Lorraine Artruc, and Norma Gauthier.
Visiting hours at the funeral home will be Friday, August 31, 2018 from 4:00-7:00 PM.
Funeral services for Claire will be held Saturday, September 1, 2018 at 8:45 AM at the Kapinos-Mazur Funeral Home, 64 Sewall St., Ludlow, MA followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in St. Elizabeth’s Parish. Burial will be in St. Aloysius Cemetery, Berkshire Ave, Springfield, MA.
