Obituary

Claire E. (Langevin) Germain a lifelong resident of Ludlow slipped quietly from us on July 16th just a short few weeks after she celebrated her 80th Birthday. She was born to Eva (Couture) and Leo Langevin June 21, 1930. Although her death was unexpected, she was surrounded by her family as she entered quietly into eternal life. Claire was a communicant of St. John the Baptist Church in Ludlow. She was an active member of the parish Ladies of St. Anne Society. She was well known for her involvement in the French Meat Pie project which her mother and aunt had initiated over 30 years ago, and is still going strong. She and her sister enjoyed reaching out to those in need by feeding the homeless. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 43 years, Jack Germain, in 1996. She was, as many of you know, the Matriarch of 10 children and their families who will miss her dearly. Jack Germain and wife Regina, Gary Germain and wife Louise, Louis Germain and Deb, Patricia (Germain) Griffith, Robert Germain and Sarah Gorski, Laurie Germain and Vinny Remian, Michelle ( Germain) Dunfield, Paulette Auffrey and husband Gary, Jim Germain and wife Shelly, and the 10th child, Keith Germain, who is currently serving in Iraq. Claire was a loving Grandmother of 17 and a Great Grandmother of 4, with another one on the way. She was very close to all her Grandchildren and enjoyed their visits. She lived an active life and will be truly missed by her best friend and sister, Jeannette Nolan and her brother-in-law Paul , both who shared her love to travel. Claire also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who brought her great happiness. Claire received God’s call while enjoying one of her simplest pleasures, leisure time at her summer cottage in Sturbridge, MA.

My deepest sympathy to all. My memories of your mother, grandmother, greatmother and sister are many (all good) and they go back many years. Time slips by so fast and even though we were not in constant touch the thoughts and love was always there between us. My love and prayers are with Claire, your dad Jack and the wonderful Germain family. Bev

I still have the first gift she ever gave me which was a cook book. She showed all of us the depth of her love and care by the fabulous Sunday and Holiday dinners she so loving prepared. I will treasure that cook book forever. You are gone but never will be forgotten. Rest eternal till we meet again.

Mem, I will truely miss your happy gaze as you relax next to the lake with your glass of wine or occasional beer. Or accompanying you at the fire, you always did your best to stay up with the rest of us like a true champ. You were the best grandmother all 17 grandchildren could hope for. Love and miss you so so much. - Love Jade<3

Our deepest sympathy to the entire Germaine, Nolan and Langevin families. I can't tell you how fond of Claire that I was. She was such a caring and loving person. I especially enjoyed the time that I spent with her during the meat pie project...I really looked forward to going there just to spend some time with her. Our loss is God's gain...she was one of His best.
