Barbara D. (Derosia) Libbey

It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Barbara (Derosia) Libbey, 90, of Chicopee.  Barbara passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 20, 2023.  A cherished daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and cousin.  Daughter of the late Louis and Flossie (Rollins) Derosia, she was born in Glencliff, NH on September 18, 1932.  Barbara loved camping and the beach, especially summers spent with family and friends in Rhode Island.

Barbara is survived by her son Brian Libbey and his wife Maria of Ludlow; her grandson Benjamin Libbey and his wife Sara and her great-grandchildren Reed and Eloise.  Sadly, she was predeceased by her husband Harold Libbey, her sisters Evelyn Sweeney, Lydia Belyea, Ruth Giverson and her brother William Derosia.

Barbara brought warmth, joy and a love for life to all those fortunate enough to know her.  She will be remembered as a soul who found solace in the embrace of the ocean waves, joy in the gentle float of the water, comfort in the notes of country music and the truest happiness in the company of cherished friends and loving family.

As we mourn her passing, let us also celebrate the beautiful moments she gifted us, the love she spread, and the memories that will forever keep her alive in our hearts.                                 .

Visiting hours for Barbara will be held Thursday, August 24, 2023 from 9:30-11:00 AM at the Kapinos-Mazur Funeral Home, 64 Sewall St., Ludlow, MA. A funeral home service will follow at 11:00 AM. Burial will be in Island Pond Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations in Barbara’s name may be made to a United States Veteran’s organization of one’s choice
