Barbara A. (Karczmarczyk) Wakem 67 of East Longmeadow, died Saturday October 26, 2013 in the care and comfort of her home surrounded with love. Born in Ludlow, MA June 6, 1946 daughter of the late Wanda (Ziemian) and Joseph Karczmarczyk. Educated in local schools she was a 1964 graduate of Cathedral High School and was the class Valedictorian. She furthered her education at the Massachusetts General and Northeastern University X-Ray School.She had worked at Baystate Medical Center and at Mercy Hospital. She was the Office Manager for Doctors Titus, Clarke, Hansen & Ruark with many years of service. Barbara was a faithful Communicant of St. Michael’s Church, and loved to travel. She will long be remembered as the one who gave parties for her family and friends. She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Theodore E. Wakem, her children, Joseph Wakem and his wife Jennifer of Irvine, CA Jeffrey Wakem and his wife Stacy of Charlotte, NC and Marc Wakem and his wife Kaitlyn of Rockland, MA cherished grandmother of Mackenzie and Olivia Wakem. Godmother of Darlene Rae. Also survived by extended family members and friends.

Funeral services celebrating her life will be Saturday November 2, 2013 with family and friends gathering at 9:30 AM at the Kapinos-Mazur Funeral Home 64 Sewall St. Ludlow with the funeral procession leaving at 10:15 AM for a Liturgy of Christian Burial in St. Michael’s Church 128 Maple St. East Longmeadow, MA at 11 AM. Rites of committal will be Monday November 4, 2013 at 10 AM in Hillcrest Park Cemetery 895 Parker St. Springfield, MA in section Q the Gazebo Section.

Ted & Family, My heart has broken again, but I take comfort in knowing that Barb and Joni are together again. Now when I go shopping I will not only get great parking places but I will find fantastic sales too. She is loved and missed!

Sorry for your loss. I have many fond memories of the Christmas in July family reunions you and Barbara used to throw at your house when I was young. She will be missed.
