Augusto C. Porfirio

Augusto C. Porfirio, 88, of Ludlow passed away Tuesday, July 13, 2021. Born in Portugal on October 4, 1932, he was the son of the late Crispin Porfirio and Belmira De Jesus Caldeira.

Many of his friends knew him as Auggie. The lunch crowd at his favorite restaurant knew him as “Amoroso” which translates to “Loving”; a fit name for one who spread love and joy wherever he went.

He is reunited with his beloved wife Maria (Dias) Porfirio, who predeceased him in 2016, leaving his two sons Carlos A. Porfirio of Indian Orchard and Jorge Gomes of Portugal; two daughters Maria Moran of Ludlow and Bianca Dawes of NH as well as brother and sister in-laws Raul and Elisa Serra, of Ludlow. Augusto also leaves his grandchildren Pedro and Ana Gomes, Valentim Porfirio, Rui and Lena Gomes, Vincente and Avon Porfirio, Mark and Angelina Moran, Michael and Victoria Dougherty, Nancy (Moran) and Chris Tenney, Jonathan Dougherty, godson Jose Clemente, 20 great-grandchildren; and many beloved nephews and nieces.

Visiting hours for Augusto will be Saturday, July 17, 2021 from 9:30-10:30 AM at the Kapinos-Mazur Funeral Home, 64 Sewall St., Ludlow, MA,  followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial in Our Lady of Fatima Church at 11:00 AM.  Burial will be in Island Pond Cemetery.
