Obituary

Armand Dias, 93, formerly of Ludlow, passed away Thursday, June 14, 2018. Son of the late Joseph and Maria (Duartes) Dias, he was born in Ludlow on January 1, 1925. A lifelong resident, he attended Ludlow schools. Armand proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Army during World War II in northern France, the Rhineland and Central Europe. He worked at the Springfield Armory until its closing and later at MMWEC. A communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church, he  was a member of the Gremio Lusitano Club, a proud Trustee of the Joseph and Anna C. Dias Family Foundation and a lifelong Boston Red Sox fan.

Armand is survived by his wife of 68 years, Hilda (Carneiro) Dias, formerly of Ludlow; his son Mark Dias and his wife Amy of Easton, MA; his daughter Janice Dias and her husband Charles Ahmes of Kennebunk, ME; and close family friend Charlene Wilson. He also leaves his 4 grandchildren Ana, Eric, Audra and Alan and a great-grandchild. Sadly he was predeceased by his sons Alan and Armand Dias.

Visiting hours at the funeral home will be Wednesday, June 20, 2018 from 4:00-7:00 PM.


Service Information

Funeral services for Armand will be held Thursday, June 21, 2018 at 9:45 AM at the Kapinos-Mazur Funeral Home, 64 Sewall St., Ludlow, MA followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM in Our Lady of Fatima Church. Rites of Committal with Military Honors will be in St. Aloysius Cemetery, Berkshire Ave., Springfield, MA.
