Joan L. Hager

Joan L. (Meltzer) Hager, 79, of Springfield, MA passed away at her home on March 28, 2016 from a brief illness with her loving family and friends by her side. Born in Springfield, MA on November 19, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Peter Meltzer Sr. and Rebecca (Sherman) Meltzer. Sadly she was predeceased by her husband Rodney J Hager in 2008 and her brothers Peter and Donald Meltzer. She graduated in 1956 from Dean Jr. College where she met her late husband of 52 years. She worked as a bookkeeper for over 10 years at Hampden Candy and Tobacco Co. and Veterans Golf Course., and a clerk in the registrars and facilities management office for over 23 years at WNEC. She was an Avon representative for over 58 years and earned Presidential club status. She was very active in the community and neighborhood policing. She and her husband were lifetime Springfield Falcons hockey fans. She enjoyed going to the beach every year with her family. Her giving, sharing, and love was felt by all who knew her. She cherished her family and friends and gave them lasting memories. She was the loving mother of James P. Hager and his wife Christine M. of Spfld., Jon A. Hager and his wife Theresa C. of West Spfld., Kathy A. Gervickas of Spfld., Debra L. Connor and her husband Richard J. of West Spfld., Becky L. Sotolotto and her husband Thomas R. of Feeding Hills and Rod C. Barnish and his wife Cynthia R. of South Hadley. She leaves additional family, Tobie Koszorowski of Spfld., Robert A. Reall and his wife Joanne of West Spfld., and her seventeen grandchildren Natasha, Jenna, Kaitland, Ryan, Peter, James Paul, Richard, Jake, Noah, Caleb, Molly Elizabeth, Hayley, Michael, Christopher , Nicholas, Cameron and Kayla. She also leaves many loving nieces and nephews. She will always be remembered for her generosity and her kindness toward animals
