Ursula A. (Hudyka) Jachym, 93 of Wilbraham, passed away peacefully Wednesday, May 4, 2016, surrounded by her loving family. Daughter of the late John and Ursula (Dziechciowska) Hudyka, she was born in Wilbraham, MA on November 30, 1922. Ursula graduated from the High School of Commerce in 1940. A much loved lunch lady, she worked for many years in the Wilbraham Public Schools as manager of the Middle School lunch program until her retirement in 1983.
Ursula was a devout and active communicant of Immaculate Conception Church in Indian Orchard and a member of its Rosary Sodality. For many years Ursula coordinated the preparation of Polish specialties like kapusta, pierogi and golumpki for the churchs annual Dozynki Polish Picnic. Ursula was a Charter member of the Wilbraham Polish-American Veterans Auxiliary, serving as Vice President and for six terms as President. She spent many years on the Board of Directors. In 1982-1983 she was the State Jr. Vice-President for the Western District. Ursula also served many years in the Auxiliary of Ludlow VFW Post 3236, serving as President in 1994. She was a member of the Board of Trustees of the former Ludlow Hospital, serving as the Boards Secretary. In 1998 she was appointed Honorary Deputy Sheriff of the Hampden County Sheriffs Department.
Ursula is survived by four sons Michael J. Jachym and his wife Patty of Monson, MA, Robert S. Jachym and his wife Tamara of Granby, MA, David L. Jachym and his wife Jane of South Windsor, CT and Mark A. Jachym and his wife Cathy of Monroe, NC. She also leaves her beloved grandchildren Laurie, Greg, Bill, Jim, Steven, Angela, Jeremy and Eric and a great-grandson Jacoby. Ursula also leaves several nieces and nephews. Sadly, she was predeceased by her husband Longin S. Jachym in 1982 and her brothers Ted, John, Edward and Joseph Hudyka.
Funeral services for Ursula will be held Tuesday, May 10, 2016 at 9:45 AM at the Kapinos-Mazur Funeral Home, 64 Sewall St, Ludlow, MA followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM in Immaculate Conception Church, Parker St, Indian Orchard, MA. Rites of Committal will follow in Hillcrest Park Cemetery, Parker St, Springfield, MA.
