Obituary

Therese M. (Dezalia) Teixeira, 81, of Ludlow, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 19, 2019.  Daughter of the late Manuel and Beatrice (DeLoria) Dezalia, she was born in Springfield on May 6, 1938.  Raised in the Forest Park section of the city, Terry attended Holy Name School and graduated from Cathedral High School. She was a certified dental assistant and past President of the Valley District and Mass Dental Assistants Assoc. In 1975, she became an accounts payable clerk at Friendly Ice Cream, where she worked for 25 years.

Terry was an active member of St. John the Baptist Church, later St, Elizabeth’s Parish.  A member of the Ladies of St. Anne, Terry served as a Eucharistic Minister, bringing Communion to home-bound parishioners. Active on many committees, she sang in the Heralds of the Lord folk group for 25 years.

Terry was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother whose happiest times were those spent with her family.

Terry is survived by her beloved husband of 62 years John Teixeira of Ludlow; her children Michael and his children Dustin and Silvia (Jonathan) ; Marilyn Bourbeau and her children David (Eilizabeth), Diane (Monica)  and Dawn (Angelo), Charles and his wife CarolAnn and their children Scott (Katherine), Lindsey (Charles) and Jonathan; her sister Margaret Meade and her brother John Dezalia (Susan). She also leaves 12 great-grandchildren and her life long friends Claire Natario, Patricia Fabbri and Geraldine Berube. Sadly she was predeceased by her sister Patricia Denzmore and her brother-in-law Thomas Meade.

Visiting hours will be Thursday, October 24, 2019 from 5:00-7:00 PM at the Kapinos-Mazur Funeral Home, 64 Sewall St., Ludlow, MA.  Family and friends are invited to gather directly at St. Elizabeth’s Parish on Friday, October 25, 2019 at 10:00 AM for a Liturgy of Christian Burial for Terry.  Rites of Committal will follow is Island Pond Cemetery. Donations in Terry’s memory may be made to the Sisters of St. Joseph, 577 Carew St., Springfield, MA 01104.
