Obituary

Stephen Kelsey, 76, of Chicopee, formerly of Bernardston, MA, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 8, 2025. Son of the late Harold and Ruth Kelsey, he was born and raised in Lockport, NY. Stephen received his BA in Psychology from Nathanial Hawthorne College and went on to obtain a teaching certificate from UMass-Amherst. Fondly known as “Mr. K.” he taught elementary school in Greenfield for 33 years.

Stephen is survived by his wife of 53 years Susan Kelsey; a brother David Kelsey (Susan) of FL; two nephews Joel Kelsey (Meredith) of Washington, DC and David Gordon of New Hampshire; two nieces Melinda Gordon of Millbury, MA and Beth Schlesinger (Richard) of Illinois. He was blessed with an extended family of great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, Stephen was predeceased by his brother Gary.

Stephen will be remembered as a kind, patient man, committed to family and friends and always a gentleman.
A memorial service for Stephen will be held at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to First Church in Ludlow, 859 Center St., Ludlow, MA 01056 or the charity of one’s choice.
