Stella C. (Zastepa) Nowak 84 of Westfield passed away peacefully at Wingate of East Longmeadow on May 25, 2013. She passed into Eternal Life surrounded in the presence of her family and caregivers. Born in Springfield, MA May 17, 1929 a beloved daughter of the late Albert and Catherine (Iwaniec) Zastepa. Educated in Springfield schools, she was primarily a homemaker, who enjoyed raising her four children, cooking, baking, sewing, gardening, listening to Polish music and playing bingo. Stella had lived in the Indian Orchard section of Springfield for many years before moving to Westfield, MA for the remainder of her life. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her beloved husband Walter S. Nowak Sr. who died July 18, 1988. Her two son in laws, Paul I. Munzert, and David G. Guindon, her two step brothers Edward and Stephen Gazda and step sister Amelia Wisniewski. Stella is survived by her children, Christine M. Munzert of Feeding Hills, Deborah S. B’Shara and her husband Richard of Feeding Hills, Walter S. Nowak Jr. and his wife Michele of Belchertown, and Sharon E. Guindon of Merrimack, NH. Cherished grandmother of Paul I. Munzert II, Ashley M. Guindon, Jessica A. and Joseph B’Shara, Michael S. and Gregory A. Nowak. A sister Mary Laskowski, several nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends, especially her beloved furry friend Scout. Stella’s entire family would like to extend their thanks to all the staff at Wingate at East Longmeadow for their wonderful care they provided during Stella’s time with them, and also to thank Baystate VNA & Hospice during her final weeks.

Funeral services celebrating her life will be Wednesday June 5, 2013 at 9:45 AM at the Kapinos-Mazur Funeral Home 64 Sewall St. Ludlow followed by an 11 AM Liturgy of Christian Burial in Immaculate Conception Church 15 Parker St. Indian Orchard. Rites of committal will follow in St. Aloysius Cemetery.
