Shirley M. (Coope) Searles, 87, of Ludlow, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 27, 2016. Daughter of the late William and Evelyn (Jackson) Coope, she was born in Methuen, MA on July 8, 1928.
Shirley liked to read the Bible and go for walks at the Quabbin. She also thoroughly loved bingo. For many years she took disco dance lessons and spent much time on the dance floor. She was a quiet, simple minded woman who loved spending time with her grandchildren. She liked to travel to see her family and spend time at the beach.
Shirley was a communicant of Christ the King Church where she was a member of the Rosary Sodality and spent many hours in the Perpetual Adoration Chapel.
Shirley is survived by her seven children Len Hamel (Carolyn) of Tampa, FL; Richard Hamel (Susan) of Plaistow, NH; Theresa Culhane (Robert) of IN; Marylynn Beal (Bill) of Ormond Beach, FL; Lynda Collins (Frank) of Ludlow, MA; David Wenzel (Lauren) of Union City, NJ; and Kevin Wenzel (Melissa) of Palmer, MA. She also leaves her sister Janet Casady of Methuen, MA; her 18 beloved grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and six nephews including her godson Bobby. Sadly, she was predeceased by her husband Stanley Searles and her brothers Kenny and Billy. She will be especially missed by her daughter Lynda Collins with whom she spent much time. May God grant Her Eternal peace.
Funeral services for Shirley will be held Saturday, March 5, 2016 at 8:45 AM at the Kapinos-Mazur Funeral Home, 64 Sewall St, Ludlow, MA followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in Christ the King Church, Warsaw, Ave, Ludlow, MA. Burial will follow in Island Pond Cemetery, Center St, Ludlow, MA.
