LUDLOW – Shirley Rogers (Kunkel) Wrinn 77 of Center St. Ludlow died Tuesday evening April 29, 2008 at home. Born December 23, 1930 she was the daughter of the late Mary (Rogers) Cooper Dave Kunkel Jr. Educated at Shenandoah Conservatory of Music in Dayton, VA she married Gregory J. Wrinn on her college graduation day June 1, 1953, and moved to this area in 1956, she was an accomplished musician and had served as an accompanist for many functions including many Ludlow High School Shows and Town of Ludlow functions and musicals. She was a member of the Shenandoah Chorale and a cappella Choir, and a member of the Springfield Symphony Chorus. Shirley had worked as an educator in the Ludlow Public Schools, as a music teacher, and later as a 5 and 6 grade classroom teacher having taught at Chapin St. School, Baird Middle School, Chestnut Street School and Veteran’s Park School. She was a member of the Ludlow Education Association, the Massachusetts Teachers Association, and the National Education Association. Shirley retired in 1991. Shirley was also a collector for many organizations including the March of Dimes. She is survived by her husband of 54 years Gregory J. Wrinn the retired choral director of Ludlow High School, there sons Joseph Wrinn and his wife Julie of Lynn, MA William Wrinn and his wife Linda of Gloucester, MA sister of Dr. Cooper D. Kunkel of New Bern, NC cherished grandmother of Corey, Myles, Jamison, and Velia Wrinn sadly she was predeceased by a granddaughter Catherine. Also survived by extended family members and friends including Paulie Williams of Richmond, VA Denny Zay and his wife Sandy of Wilmington, NC and Donnie Zay and AnnaLisa of NH. Truly Shirley will be long remember by the many students who’s lives she touched.

Funeral services celebrating her life will be Saturday May 3, 2008 at 10 AM at the First Church in Ludlow 859 Center St. Ludlow, MA Rev. Frank Grogett will preside. Rites of committal will be at a later date.
