Robert E. Laverty, 84, of Ludlow, passed away Sunday, January 10, 2016. Born in Somerville, MA, he was the son of the late Robert and Elsie (Logan) Laverty.
Bob proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He graduated from Burdett College and worked for many years as a cost engineer in the construction industry. He was the past President of the American Association of Cost Engineers.
Bob loved cars and boats, spending many hours restoring and rebuilding vintage autos. He also loved spending time with his best friends, his shelties, the late Barley Boy and Leonidas
Bob is survived by three sons Robert G. Laverty and his wife Susan of Suffolk, VA; Russell G. Laverty of Boston, MA and Randall G, Laverty and his wife Jennifer of Monson, MA; and a daughter Robyn Jakubiec and her late husband Thomas of Colchester, CT. He also leaves his 8 beloved grandchildren; Caroline, Robert, Patricia, Chantal, Thomas, Matthew, Jonathan and Adam. He will be especially missed by his special dog Leo. Sadly, Bob was predeceased by his wife Pat in March, 2012.
Funeral Services will be held Sunday, January 17, 2016 from 2:00-3:00 PM concluding with Military Honors at the Kapinos-Mazur Funeral Home, 64 Sewall St, Ludlow, MA, followed by a commemorative dinner at the Villa Rose, 1428 Center St, Ludlow, MA
