Mitchell (Mickey) R. Maziarz, 83, of Ludlow, passed away on Tuesday, November 23, 2021 after a short illness. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Joanne (Vigneault) Maziarz. He was born in Ludlow, son of the late Mitchell and Julia (Wdowiak) Maziarz. Following his graduation from Ludlow High School, Mickey served proudly in the US Navy for 4 years. He went on to earn his Bachelor’s degree from Westfield State and his Master’s from Springfield College. He was a professional educator in the Springfield Public Schools for over 30 years as an adjustment counselor, concluding his career as a guidance counselor at Central High School.
Besides his wife he leaves a son, Mitchell M. Maziarz and his wife Amy of South Hadley; two daughters, Lynne Geitz and her husband Kurt of Sudbury, and Sheryl DeCataldo and her husband Louis of Sturbridge; and a sister Irene Phipps and her husband Dennis of Prescott, AZ. He was extremely proud of his 7 grandchildren; Amelia, Charles, Maxwell, Nathaniel, Caleb, Jack and Shaye. Mickey’s legacy is reflected in his belief in the power of education that he instilled in his children and, subsequently, his grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by those who truly knew him.

I Know this is years late, but I’m sad to hear about the loss of Mr. Maziarz . He was my Guidance Counselor at Central High School and he helped me in so many ways. He is the reason I went to college, the first in my family, and went on to become a school guidance counselor myself. I am so thankful that I had his support in high school and I know there are many others out there who feel the same. I will never forget him and how he encouraged me and helped me during a pivotal time in my life. My deepest condolences.
