Mildred T. (Sheppard) Magiera 94 passed away peacefully Friday August 9, 2013 surrounded by her loving family. Born in Wilbraham, MA March 25, 1919 daughter of the late Stanley and Rose (Dobek) Sheppard. Mickey was raised in Indian Orchard. Later she resided in Ludlow with her husband the late Rudolph J. Magiera, where they raised their family and hosted many family picnics. After 45 years of living in Ludlow, Grandma moved to Springfield to be a part of her granddaughter Ky’s life. Mickey remained active and self reliant until the end. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother whose passions were cooking, gardening, and crafts, and vacationing with her family, sister and friends. Throughout her long life, she was devoted to her faith and church. Mickey was predeceased by her husband Rudolph J. Magiera, her sister and brother in law Helen and John Kawalec, her best friends Phyllis and John Wacelitz, and members for Rudy’s family including Edna Sullivan who passed away in July of 2013. She was a Communicant of Christ the King Church, and a member of the Daughter’s of Christ the King, and was active at the Ludlow Senior Center. Mickey leaves her loving sons, Rudolph C. Magiera and his wife Louise of Chicopee, Kenneth S. Magiera and his wife Mary of Springfield. Cherished grandmother of 3 grandsons, Michael Magiera and his wife Debbie, Mark Magiera and his wife Yvette, and Alan Labonte and his wife Shelly. Loving Grandmother of Keri-Ann Labonte and her fiance Scott Mascaro and Kyleen Magiera. Meghan Beaudreau is her great granddaughter. Mickey also leaves her sister in laws, Ida Skwisz and Alice Gomes, nieces, nephews and cousins and the four J’s and of course, her furry friend Gryffin. Mickey leaves us all the memory of a smiling, gentle, caring woman whose faith and inner strength will be a guide for us all.
