Martha M. (Kenney) Nowakowski

Martha M (Kenney) Nowakowski, 73 of Ludlow died peacefully at home with her devoted husband by her side on March 1, 2026. Martha was born and raised in the East Forest Park neighborhood of Springfield receiving parochial education through Cathedral High School. She went on to work in Springfield City Hall in both the Clerk and Treasurer’s office. After a successful tenure she left to accept a position as a Purchasing Manager in the construction industry where she enjoyed a long successful career.

Throughout her life Martha loved vacationing at her three favorite places, Ogunquit, ME, Newport, RI and Cape Cod where she enjoyed golfing, the theater, oceanfront restaurants and relaxing in a beach chair on the sand. Another favorite pastime was taking long afternoon rides with her husband, Bob, never knowing where they might wind up.

She was predeceased by her parents Thomas and Eleanor (Lynch) Kenney along with her brother William Kenney.

Martha is survived by her beloved husband of 37 years, Robert Nowakowski, her loving sister, Beth Kenney, of Springfield, her dear cousin, Maureen Lynch, of Ellington, CT, her stepchildren, Gregory Nowakowski and his wife, Laura, of Wilbraham, Kristi Nowakowski and her partner, Shane Billings, of Middle Grove, NY, Scott Nowakowski and his wife, Trina, of Greenwich, NY and her grandchildren, Grayson, Leah, Brody, Maeve and Brockton.

Martha’s family wishes to express their undying gratitude to her dedicated caregivers, Marsia, Karen, Ruth and Maria for their extraordinary efforts on her behalf during her lengthy illness. The family also thanks the wonderful team from Baystate Hospice.

A calling hour will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2026 from 10:00-11:00 AM in St Cecelia’s Church, 42 Main St, Wilbraham. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 AM. Burial will be private, at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital at stjude.org or 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
