Maropin “Penny” Abrahamson, 101, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 4, 2020. Daughter of the late Joseph and Elena Ventura, she was born in Boston, MA on April 14, 1919. Penny graduated from Ludlow High School and in her later years worked for the Ludlow School Department. She was a Eucharistic Minister at the former St. Mary of the Assumption parish for over 20 years and a volunteer at Wingate of Wilbraham though St. Cecilia’s Parish. Penny had many interests. She enjoyed traveling, painting in oils and watercolors, reading, cooking entertaining and gardening. Her love of gardening brought joy to all who saw her flowers.
Penny is survived by her three children Carlene Archambault with whom she lived for the past few years; Craig Abrahamson of North Kingston, RI and Bryan Abrahamson of Edgartown, MA and her sister Victorina Robbins of Ludlow. She also leaves her five grandchildren Eric Bousquet of Suffield, CT, Joel Bousquet of Springfield, MA and Emily Bousquet of Enfield, CT, Jon Abrahamson and Benjamin Abrahamson both of RI and her 8 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Herbert Abrahamson in 1988 and her sisters Elizabeth Marini, Josephine Cantalini, Eva Pyott and Jeanette Ventura.
When asked what she attributed her longevity to, she would say faith, family, healthy eating and good friends.
